More enjoyment of your ship, more comfort and safer sailing.

How do you prevent leakage?
With a keel stepped mast, the mast and deck move independently of each other while sailing. Making the mast feedthrough waterproof takes two steps:
-
Fix the mast at deck level and seal it with Spartite®.
-
Apply mast collar or mast collar tape for extra sealing to the outside of the mast where the mast protrudes just above the deck.
-
Optional: place a mast bulkhead inside the mast.

The mast collar goes around the mast before the mast is put in the ship. The mast collar is attached to the mast at the top and to the deck at the bottom. The top edge is then sealed with Sikaflex or Polymer sealant.
-
Mast collar tape is specially developed to prevent leakage along the mast and is applied when the mast is in the ship. Mast collar tape is first attached to the deck at the mast passage and then rolled up over the mast and attached to the mast. Mast collar tape works particularly well when the mast is fixed and moves little in relation to the deck.
